The collection consists of two boxes of reel-to-reel tapes, cassettes, photographs, programs, and newspaper clippings from former UNT piano professor Jack Roberts, who served on the music faculty from 1957-1999. Reel-to-reel tapes comprise most of the collection, and are primarily of Roberts' own performances in solo and ensemble settings, along with some performances by students and colleagues.

Jack Lundy Roberts was born on June 22, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas, and received early instruction on the piano from William Barclay of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He studied with both Silvio and Isabel Scionti at what is now the University of North Texas, earning bachelor's and master's degrees. Roberts was awarded a Fulbright grant and studied at the Vienna Academy for Music and Dramatic Arts (now the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna) with Richard Hauser (1909-1970)...
